Looking for help in identifying the ship on which our great-grandfather,
Clemens Julius Ostendorf, or Ostendorfer, from Hettingen, Tecklenburg Circuit,
Westphalia immigrated to America. He stated on the census that he immigrated
in 1882 and we have papers issued in Tecklenburg, dated February 28, 1882, that
indicate he was wanted for prohibited immigration. This leads us to believe he
left in January or February 1882 and may have taken a roundabout route. It
looks like there is a reward of 50 Taler. Does anyone know how much that is?

On Jun 16, 1885 when Clemens Julius was 29, he married Clara Wilhelmiene BAUCKLOH, daughter of Franz BAUCKLOH & Emma Friedrike VON DER KRONE (Oct 3, 1833-Feb 9, 1911), in Reading, Hamilton County, Ohio. Born on Dec 5, 1863 in Ernstdorf, Siegen circuit, Arnsberg district, Westphalia, Germany. Spellings: Bauckloh, Baukloh, Bankloh. Clara Wilhelmiene died in Norwood, Hamilton County, Ohio, on Mar 19, 1909; she was 45. 3938 Catherine Ave. Occupation: Housewife.
